Nehalem
Core i5 pertama menggunakan mikroarsitektur Nehalem diperkenalkan pada tanggal 8 September 2009, sebagai varian utama dari Core i7 sebelumnya, intiLynnfield. Lynnfield Core i5 memiliki 8 MB L3 cache, bus DMI berjalan pada 2,5 GT / s dan dukungan untuk dual-channel DDR3-800/1066/1333 memori dan memiliki Hyper-threading cacat. Prosesor yang sama dengan set yang berbeda fitur (frekuensi clockHyper-Threading dan lainnya) yang aktif dijual sebagai Core i7-8xx dan Xeon 3400-series prosesor, yang tidak harus bingung dengan high-end Core i7-9xx dan Xeon3500-series prosesor berdasarkan Bloomfield.
Core i5-5xx prosesor mobile diberi nama Arrandale dan berdasarkan Westmere 32 nmmenyusut dari mikroarsitektur Nehalem. Prosesor Arrandale telah terintegrasikemampuan grafis tetapi hanya dua core prosesor. Mereka dibebaskan pada Januari 2010, bersama-sama dengan Core i7-6xx dan Core i3-3xx prosesor berdasarkan chip yang sama. Cache L3 dalam Core i5-5xx prosesor dikurangi menjadi 3 MB, sedangkanCore i5-6xx akan menggunakan cache penuh dan Core i3-3xx tidak akan memilikidukungan untuk Turbo Boost. Januari 2011, Intel merilis prosesor Core i5 quad-core berdasarkan mikroarsitektur"Sandy Bridge" di CES 2011. Dual-core mobile dan prosesor desktop tiba pada Februari 2011.
Core i5-2xxx garis prosesor desktop kebanyakan chip quad-core, dengan pengecualianCore dual-core i5-2390T, dan termasuk grafis terintegrasi, yang menggabungkan fitur kunci dari Core i5 sebelumnya-6xx dan Core i5-7xx baris.
